Apple have now quietly confirmed that they are indeed working on a fix for the now 2 month old MacBook Pro 7,200 RPM hard drive click, beep, freeze problem.

Apple had refused through their silence to acknowledge there was a problem with the 7,200 RPM hard drives in the MacBook Pro notebooks. An Apple representative, Bill Evans, has spoken to the the people at CNET declaring “We are aware of the issue and are working on a software update”.
The main discussion of the problem is over at the Apple Discussion Forums where there have been over 1,307 posts, 133,347 views since June 20th 2009!

Update! 11th Aug 09: Apple now recognise there is a problem and they are in the process of a fix: Check out this other post for more information HERE.
So it has been approximately 25 days since the first post on the Apple Discussion Forums about the hard drive Click, Beep, Freeze problem in what sounds like the majority of the 7,200 RPM Seagate hard drives in the MacBook Pro (June 2009 model). The hard drive model in question is the ST9500420ASG, although other hard drives are know to exhibit the same problems.

After taking delivery of a brand new Apple MacBook Pro 15″, I noticed a consitent click, beep, freeze experience. This was to be identified to be the hard drive in the laptop, something sounding akin to the hard drive head moving to the parked position.
