vodafone_logoWith yesterday’s announcement from Orange UK, Vodafone UK have now reached an agreement with Apple to sell the most popular Smartphone.

The agreement allows Vodafone to sell the iPhone from early 2010, later than Orange who are anticipated to ship devices before Christmas.

The opening up of the exclusivity will undoubtedly spur price wars between the different carriers, and also demonstrate who’s network more importantly can cope with the huge spike in mobile data usage.

From the face of it, Orange’s network looks to have the most extensive 3G network out of the three network operators; and when it has completed its merger with T-Mobile, they will arguably have the best network coverage for any phone let alone the iPhone.

The O2 network in the UK has suffered a data outage this afternoon (1pm BST 21/07/09). O2 engineers are aware of the issue but aren’t releasing any causes or further information about the outage. The issue is affecting email and MMS services for many pay monthly customers.

Its official. The much anticipated, supposed iPhone killer is officially going to the O2 Network in the UK.

There had been much rumour that it would go to O2, as Telefonica, the Spanish owner of O2, has reportedly landed an exclusive deal with the Palm Pre for Europe. Telefonica have the rights to the market in Spain, Germany, Ireland and the UK.
